This week I bring you the second step towards creating the marriage of your dreams. Missed Step 1? Click here to catch up.
Step 2: Treat your time like a valuable currency. Spend it on what counts!
Distraction is the biggest killer of progress. Time is the most valuable gift we have all been given, free of charge. Yet day in day out, most of people allow inconsequential activities, events, tasks and even people to steal their time. Your time is your life! Once a person’s time runs out, well, there goes their life too. Every second of time that passes, a fraction of your life goes with it.
So how are you spending this precious currency? What are you exchanging it for? How do you spend your evenings and weekends? Is it all about entertainment? Or busy activities that result in little or no value? Or do you spend your spare time on personal development? Do you take time specially to cultivate your relationship with your spouse?
Life has become so busy nowadays. With all the demands such as work, meetings, family commitments, friends, fitness and so on, there are hardly enough hours left in a day for spending time with your spouse. Most people complain about how they don’t have time for themselves let alone time to spend with their spouse. This is the reason behind most unhappy relationships. Research has shown that one of the major reasons most relationships fail is that couples do not give importance to spending enough time together.
Remember this: Work full time on your job and part time on the future you desire. Do you desire a great marriage? Then invest your time in it. Plan “alone time” with your spouse into your evenings and weekends. Spend time developing yourself to become a better wife or husband by reading books and engaging with other life-imparting resources.
Let this be the new code you live by: Every Second Counts!
